Cleanliness Campaign

In the process of brainstorming different ideas, an idea of launching a cleanliness program struck our mind. The idea was to organize the program so that we would not just be cleaning the places but also inspiring others to clean. We encouraged local people to participate in our program while we cleaned the place.

Cleanliness Programs organized

Cleanliness campaign was unofficially started before the registration of the NGO. On the occasion of Holi, 2068, we conducted our first cleanliness program in the Durbar-Marg area. In Holi, people celebrate by throwing water at each other; while doing this they use a lot of plastic. Our program primary targeted to clean such places affected by plastic and discourage the people to use it.

Similarly we gave continuity to the program by conducting same program in the successive Holi, 2069, as well. This was the second session of our cleanliness campaign which also included of an Anti-Plastic Awareness Program in the Basantapur area.

For the third time, we tried something else too. We planned to clean the Krishna temple of Dillibazar, Kathmandu and in order to aware the local people, we also installed many informative messages around the temple. We then installed a dustbin in the area urging the local people to throw their wastes in a managed area. This seemed to the perfect way to create and maintain a clean environment around the temple.

We will be repeating cleanliness programs in similar pattern in many different places of the city. Thus Cleanliness Campaign is one of our ongoing projects as well.
